Membership Expectations

BNI Origins expects active, committed members who contribute to the chapter’s success and growth. Here’s what membership entails:

Weekly Commitment

  • Attend meetings consistently (in-person or via approved substitute)

  • Arrive on time and stay for the full meeting

Relationship Building

  • Schedule 1-2-1 meetings with fellow members regularly

  • Follow up on referrals received and given

  • Build trust through consistent interaction beyond weekly meetings

Active Participation

  • Present your Featured Presentation when scheduled

  • Participate in chapter events and social activities

  • Contribute to chapter goals and initiatives

Professional Standards

  • Uphold BNI’s Code of Ethics and General Policies

  • Maintain Traffic Light Green status through attendance and engagement

  • Represent your profession and Origins professionally

 

Training & Development

  • Complete Member Success Program within 60 days of joining

  • Attend ongoing training for referral skills and presentations

  • Continuously improve your networking effectiveness

  • Give business to other members before expecting to receive

  • Focus on quality referrals that genuinely help fellow members

BNI membership fee is the cost to be part of BNI’s business networking platform and membership community.
This is separate from the weekly venue fees

Chapter Level Costs

  • Weekly Member's Venue Fee $60/week

    The weekly member venue fee covers the cost of hosting our regular chapter meetings at the venue. It helps support the space, setup, and meeting operations so members can gather in a professional and consistent environment each week.

    This is collected every 2 months and may vary depending on existing venue costs

Other Potential Costs

BNI Training — Required Member Success Program plus optional advanced training workshop

National Events — BNI Singapore National Conference, BNI National Networking Events

Chapter Events — Origins socials, training nights, and networking mixers

Transportation — Travel to weekly meetings and chapter events (personal expense).

1-2-1 Meetings — Coffee or meals when building referral relationships with other members.

Annual Expected Cost: $5000 onwards

No. Every application goes through a Membership Committee review that includes reference checks and an interview to ensure good member fit for Origins. Only applicants who align with our chapter culture and values are accepted.

If Origins does not accept your application, BNI HQ can help you find another chapter that may be a better fit. If you choose to stop the application process entirely, your application fee will be fully refunded.

Yes, if Origins rejects your application or you have second thoughts during the application, and you do not wish to be matched with another chapter, the application fee is fully refunded.

No. Once your application is approved and you are formally inducted into the BNI system, your membership begins and fees are non-refundable.

No partial refunds are given for any reason, regardless of circumstances.

The weekly meeting fee covers venue rental, meeting setup, and operations so members have a consistent professional environment each week.

BNI’s General Policy requires active participation because relationships drive referrals. If you’re only seeking business without building trust and contributing to the chapter, we may not be the right fit. Participation builds your visibility and credibility.

BNI training (Member Success Program + advanced workshops) equips you with proven referral strategies and presentation skills. You also network with members from other chapters, expanding your referral opportunities beyond Origins.

No. BNI policy prevents members from visiting other chapters to safeguard the interests of seated members. Network across chapters through official national events and conferences.

Substitutes maintain chapter momentum and your visibility. When you’re absent, a substitute represents your business, shares your 60-second commercial, and keeps you top-of-mind with members who might otherwise forget you.

You will be assigned a team and a personal mentor to guide you through the first 3 months in Origins. You will go through the Member Sucess Program training which ensures that you understand and benefit from the BNI platform.

Our Visitor Orientation assigned to you will guide you through the application process.

After application is submitted, our membership committee will approach you for an interview within 48 hours.

Depending on whether deconflicts of trade between members is needed, the membership review process may take from 1 week to 4 weeks depending on complexity
